Just in time to save Canada?

A recent sortie for our PM was out to Kelowna to view the ravaged fire remains and offer his bogus concerns to victims. Once more he blathers on with a load of insincere platitudes, that “we” (the Liberal government) “will be there for you” and “we have your backs.” When is Justin Trudeau going to get it through his head that people are tired of and fed up with him and his schtick? He and his policies are largely why Canadians are facing many of the challenges and mess they do. Why should anyone expect the disastrous financial policies, non-existent interim monetary policy (his own words) and other missteps that put us in this sorry position can be rectified by the same failed bunch that implemented them? I recall when he was born and christened, a number of puns on his name about his being “just in” time. Well, perhaps now he will depart the federal scene, “just in” time to preclude Canada’s total collapse.

MIKE ALAIN

(Unless the NDP abandon ship, don’t count on it.)

Target China, not us

China is the greatest threat to the planet, and, while we continually beat ourselves up to reduce our 1.6 per cent of global emissions, they laugh at us.

We all try to save money on manufactured items and thus support this overbearing dictatorship and then pat ourselves on the back for being so green.

Time to start putting tariffs on everything that comes from them and encouraging suppliers to source goods elsewhere. This would replace our useless, money-grabbing carbon tax and would have much more of an impact on the environment.

But it would take a global effort to do this, so good luck.

WAYNE BOYCE

(It is unfortunate we can’t do anything to encourage better practices elsewhere.)

Guilbeault doesn’t care about us

Imagine Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault going to China, talking about reducing greenhouse gases as if we were on the same playing field. We have a handful of coal-powered stations remaining, while China approves two new plants to be built a week.

China will not jeopardize its economy, while Guilbeault has no problem shutting Canada’s down without any thought. He wouldn’t care if we became a welfare state totally dependent on government or if we froze to death in the winter.

PETE McLELLAN

(He would like enough supporters to survive to re-elect him.)
